Beginning Wheel Thrown Pottery for Adults-Thursdays

Whether you're a complete beginner or an accomplished thrower, you'll learn and/or refine your techniques and skills, You will have a blast in this class!

 

Beginning Pottery is offered to those who are curious about clay and making pottery. Students learn how to approach the task of centering the clay and making vessels on the wheel. Students also learn basic glazing techniques and gain an understanding of the firing process

 

Our seasoned and talented instructor will introduce you step-by-step to the joys of creating on the pottery wheel. You will get the personal one-on-one help you need to 'get your hands dirty' and move into pottery. You will learn the basics (even if you're a complete beginner!) of wheel-thrown pottery and develop the skills necessary to throw a pot -and to become a clay studio "member" Traditional glazing techniques will be used, plus optional paint with colored stains.    Students are encouraged to practice in the clay studio between class sessions.  Our instructor creates her own line of functional porcelain pottery with glazed images reminiscent of  1930-40’s, and is extremely patient in her teaching style! One 25# bag of clay, all glazes and the firing are included in the fee.
