What Is More Than Pink?
More Than Pink is a summer empowerment and enrichment program designed for girls who have completed grades 3–6. Through a combination of fitness, life-skills education, mentorship, creative activities, and meaningful conversations, the program gives girls a safe and supportive place to grow mentally, physically, socially, and emotionally.
More Than Pink teaches girls an important message:
You are more than your appearance. You are more than your athletic ability. You are more than your grades, your challenges, or what other people think of you. You are valuable, capable, and worthy of being heard.
The program uses physical activity and 5K training as a way to teach perseverance, goal-setting, healthy habits, and confidence. But running is only one part of the experience.
Girls also participate in discussions with mentors and role models and activities about topics they may encounter as they grow up, including self-worth, body image, nutrition, puberty, peer pressure, healthy decision-making, boundaries, and self advocacy.
They learn that taking care of their bodies is important, that their feelings and opinions matter, and that they have the ability to make positive choices for themselves.
Why Donations Are Essential
For More Than Pink to be successful and truly inclusive, every girl needs to have the opportunity to participate fully, regardless of her family's financial circumstances.
The cost of participating in a summer program can extend beyond registration. Girls need basic supplies, appropriate clothing, athletic equipment, food, educational materials, and personal-care items.
For some families, these additional costs can become a barrier.
Donations help remove those barriers.
Financial and in-kind donations can provide participants with essential materials such as:
- Drawstring bags for carrying program materials and personal belongings
- Healthy snacks to support girls during active program days
- Program T-shirts that create a sense of belonging and community
- Reusable water bottles to encourage hydration and healthy habits
- Binders and organizational supplies for lessons, activities, and goal-setting
- Art and creative supplies for hands-on activities and self-expression
- Educational materials for discussions about self-worth, body image, nutrition, puberty, peer pressure, and healthy decision-making
