The American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support class trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. The AHA’s BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings. Join educators from Clean River Partners for hands-on fun in this family-friendly workshop and take home a booklet of conservation-related activities you can do with your family! Similar to the National Park Service Junior Rangers program, kids will have the opportunity to earn a Clean River Rangers badge after the class by completing a total of six challenges from a handbook. During the workshop, we’ll explore water pollution through an exciting activity, then get a head start on completing one or two of the challenges. Learn how to take action to protect our rivers and bring home a booklet of activities to stay busy during this last month of summer.

Join a guided Nature Hike with a Minnesota Master Naturalist for an immersive walk through Kaplan's Woods! This walk offers participants the chance to slow down, explore local ecosystems, and learn directly from a trained naturalist who brings the outdoors to life. Along the trail, you’ll discover native plants, seasonal wildlife, and the subtle connections that shape Minnesota’s forests, prairies, wetlands, and waterways. The Minnesota Master Naturalist will share engaging insights about ecology, conservation, and the changing environment, turning an ordinary hike into a hands-on learning experience.

Celebrate the beauty of traditional Scandinavian art in this hands-on Rosemaled Ornament Creations workshop! Inspired by the decorative folk style of rosemaling, participants will learn basic brush techniques, color layering, and classic floral patterns used to transform simple surfaces into intricate works of art. Better yet, each student will design and create one rosmaled oranament to take home!

Open Climb is a relaxed, supervised climbing time for anyone who has taken a climbing class or wants to try the middle school rock wall for the first time. It’s a great way to “test the waters” before signing up for a full class. Participants can climb at their own pace with help available for safety, basic technique, and encouragement.
